One Year Moratorium On Traffic Summonses For Vehicles Parked Along The Shoulder Of The Road Leading To The Main Entrance Of The Kuala Lumpur Court Complex

Circular No: 016/2022
Date: 15 February 2022

Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,

Reference is made to the KLBC Circular No: 261/2021 dated 7 December 2021. As stated therein the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee had written to the Chief of Traffic Police to seek a moratorium on the issuances of summons to vehicles parked along the shoulder of the road leading up to the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex until additional car park bays may be made available for lawyers at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex.

Kindly be informed that the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department of Kuala Lumpur (“JSPT KL”) have agreed to our request for a one year moratorium on the issuance of summons to vehicles parked along the shoulder of the road leading to the main entrance of the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex. The moratorium is with effect from 1 January 2022 until 31 December 2022. However, we request that all vehicles be parked in an orderly fashion along the road shoulder as the JSPT KL will still take action if there is a complaint regarding traffic obstructions at the said area. Click here for a copy of JSPT KL’s letter.

In the meantime, the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee will continue to work together with the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex and the relevant authorities in order to increase the number of available parking bays nearby the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex for members.

Thank you.
