Circular No: 001/2025
Date: 3 January 2025
Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,
The Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee was just notified by the Kuala Lumpur Courts that a trial scheduled to take place in the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex (“KMKL”) from 6 January 2025 to 23 January 2025 will require heightened security measures to be implemented.
Members having physical matters at the KMKL are to take note of the following security measures that will be implemented at the KMKL during the relevant period:-
- The Main Gates to the KMKL at Posts A (main entrance to KMKL) and B (right wing near the Child Care Centre) will be closed from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm every day;
- No drop-offs inside the Court’s premises will be permitted, save for exceptional cases (e.g. pregnant Court users, disabled users, etc);
- The pedestrian gates on the left and right of the Main Gate (Post A) will remain open throughout the day. Further the pedestrian gate at Post B will be open until 8:30 am;
- Only the vehicles of Judges and Court staff will be allowed to enter and park inside the KMKL premises;
- Members are advised to park their vehicles at the parking lots outside Posts A and B or to utilise Grab or public transportation should they need to physically attend Court during this period.
- Members are reminded that parking on the road shoulder is prohibited;
- Members will be subject to security checks prior to entering the KMKL, including bag scans;
- Only individuals with matters fixed for physical proceedings in the Kuala Lumpur Courts on the day would be allowed to enter the KMKL. All persons would be required to provide their relevant case details to the Court’s officers at the lobby entrance for verification before they will be permitted to proceed to the relevant Courtrooms; and
- Upon exiting the KMKL, no re-entry into the KMKL for the day will be permitted.
We strongly advise all members to take note of the above measures and to make the appropriate arrangements in advance.
