Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,
On 18 February 2025, the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (“KLBC”) was invited to attend the first management meeting of the Child Care Centre (“Taska Qistina“) for the year 2025, held at Bilik Anggerik, Level 6, Kuala Lumpur Court Complex (“KMKL”).
The KLBC was represented by Chairman Alvin Oh Seong Yew, Honorary Secretary and CPCLC Co-Chairperson Nimalan Devaraja and Deputy Chairperson of the CPCLC, Aarthi S. Jeyarajah.
The main agenda of the meeting was to further discuss our proposal for a temporary playroom for children while their parents attend court proceedings at the KMKL. This was first raised during our meeting with the Director of the Kuala Lumpur Courts on 23 August 2024. A Circular No: 207/2024 dated 20 December 2024 was subsequently issued to members on the matters discussed.
We are pleased to inform members that the Court has agreed to our proposal to accommodate children of lawyers or members of the public at Taska Qistina. This is subject to the applicable terms and conditions which will be circulated in due course after the Court has prepared the same, upon consultation with the KL Bar.
Further details will be provided once we receive additional information from the Court. A notice regarding this arrangement will also be posted at the Court premises once implemented. We expect the implementation of the same to commence by May 2025.
