Dear members of the KL Bar,
It has been brought to our attention by the Court that there has been a substantial increase in the number of pupils approaching the clerks at the Petition for Admission Registry with issues pertaining to pupillage and seeking assistance to fill up their Petition Forms.
While we note that pupils have a duty to make a diligent effort in finding out the correct procedures to file their papers and also how to conduct themselves, it must be noted that Masters too have a responsibility to guide and assist their pupils in furtherance of the above.
To that end, we would like to inform all Masters and potential Masters that the KLBC has published a Pupillage Handbook containing formal requirements and processes involved, leading up to being enrolled as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya and some practical insight relating to these processes. A softcopy of the Handbook is available on the KL Bar website and can be accessed here. Complimentary copies of the Handbook can be obtained from the KL Bar Secretariat at the 8th Floor of Wisma Kraftangan, No. 9 Jalan Tun Perak, 50050 Kuala Lumpur.
Please advise your pupils to refer to the handbook for guidance and information pertaining to pupillage and the filing of Petition for Admission to the Bar. Only if further assistance is needed, your pupils may e-mail Indra of the KL Bar Secretariat at indra@klbar.org.my
We would also like to advise that your firm retains the information for future pupils of your firm.
Thank you.
Regards,
Ravin Singh
