Circular No: 018/2022
Date: 17 February 2022
It has come to our attention that Members of the Bar have encountered individuals who have appeared before Judges in the Kuala Lumpur Courts despite not being in possession of a valid Practising Certificate.
Whilst we are looking into the matter and liaising with the Judiciary and the Police, Members and Pupils are requested to collate and forward any relevant information to Noratikah (firstname.lastname@example.org) accordingly.
All correspondence will be kept strictly confidential.
In the meantime, Members are reminded of Section 29(3) of the Legal Profession Act 1976 (“LPA”) which provides that if a Member has duly complied with section 29(1) of the LPA (relating to the application for Practising Certificates) “in the month of January of any year, the Practising Certificate issued to him in respect of that year shall be deemed to have been in operation from the 1st day of January of that year”.
