Patronage For The Diversity Notebook Project
Circular No: 1845/2022
Date: 19 December 2022

Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,

Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee Gender Equality & Diversity Committee (“GEDC”) is currently embarking on a project which would raise the profile of minority, Malaysian artists whose artworks are usually not recognised by the traditional, mainstream Malaysian art industry.
Our project titled “The Diversity Notebook Project” will feature the artwork of 2 local artists namely, Shahar Koyok (aka Shaq Koyok) and Veshalini Naidu.

Part of the aim of the Diversity Notebook Project is also to raise funds that would directly benefit the minority communities the artists and their artworks represent. In order to defray or fully cover the costs of printing the notebooks, the GEDC aims to raise RM10,000.00 for this project.

All patron contributions towards the Diversity Notebook Project will be earmarked for the exclusive use of printing the Diversity Notebooks. Further, the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (“KL Bar”) undertakes to forward all proceeds of sales of the Diversity Notebooks to the artists’ nominated beneficiaries namely, Jaringan Kampung Orang Asli Semenanjung Malaysia (JKOASM) and Rumah Angkat. We would like to seek your patronage for this project in the form of a financial contribution that would help us achieve the target amount of RM10,000.00. All contributors would be credited on our ‘List of Patrons’ page in each Diversity Notebook.

The success of the Diversity Notebook Project and the KL Bar’s ability to channel all revenue generated from the sales of the Diversity

Notebooks to the minority community-serving organisations (i.e. JKOASM and Rumah Angkat), will be determined by the support we receive from your law firm and other KL Bar stakeholders.

Your contributions and patronage will secure wider recognition for the artists and the communities they represent and the challenges they face.

If you are interested in being a patron of this project, kindly assist us by clicking here. We look forward to your kind support and await your early response.

Should you require any further information and/or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact Melissa Dass of the KL Bar Secretariat at 03 26931440 or email melissadass@klbar.org.my.

Thank you.
