Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar and Pupils-in-Chambers,
The Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee recently attended a meeting with the Managing Judge of the Kuala Lumpur Civil Courts and the Attorney General’s Chambers to discuss the resumption of Online Hearing of Admissions to the Bar that was halted due to the Total Lockdown Phase 1 in June 2021.
We are pleased to inform that the Kuala Lumpur High Court will resume Online Hearing of Admissions to the Bar and Judges of the Criminal Division of the Kuala Lumpur High Court will be presiding over the Admissions. Four sessions have been scheduled for 16 July 2021 for Pupils whose Admissions were affected by the aforesaid postponement.
All Pupils are to adhere to the guidelines for the Online Admissions as issued by the Courts. Click here for the guidelines and here for the guide to conducting proceedings via video conferencing.
We have also been requested to inform all Pupils that, as per the procedure of previous Online Admissions, for the robing session, they are to self-robe. For this purpose, the Mover is to seek the permission of the Presiding Judge to allow the Pupil whose Admission he/she is moving to self-robe.
Masters are kindly reminded that it is their duty to arrange for an Advocate and Solicitor of more than 7 years’ standing to move their Pupils’ Admission to the Bar. We are sure that Masters are aware that by tradition, they or any other lawyers in their firm should not be moving the Admission to the Bar of their Pupils and will strictly adhere to the said tradition.
Kindly take note that matters pertaining to Admission to the Bar that require to be attended to physically at the Special Powers Division of the Kuala Lumpur High Court, the Registration/Service Counter is open as follows:
Monday to Thursday – 8:30am to 1:00pm
Friday – 8:30am to 12:15pm
