Latest Updates From Kuala Lumpur Court Pertaining To Admission Of Advocates & Solicitors Of The High Court Of Malaya (“Long Call”) At The Kuala Lumpur High Court

Dear Members and Pupils of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,

1. The Pupils Committee (“PC”) was informed by the Kuala Lumpur Court that Admission of Advocates & Solicitors of the High Court of Malaya (“Long Call”) shall be heard physically at the Kuala Lumpur High Court starting from 22 July 2022 onwards, subject to the following conditions:-

i) Each Petitioner will be permitted to have the following persons attend his/her Long Call:-

(a) Maximum of 2 guests, with priority being given to parents, spouses and family members;
(b) his/her Mover; and
(c) his/her Master.

ii) The tradition of a Master placing the robes on his/her pupil is subject to the discretion of the learned Judge hearing the relevant Petition.

iii) All attendees are required to wear face masks at all times, whilst the proceedings take place.

2. With the resumption of physical Long Calls, the Court has also set out specific guidelines and/or standard operating procedures (“SOP”) which must be adhered to. The said document pertaining to the relevant SOP can be found here.
