KLBC Circular No. 022/2023 | Malaysian Bar’s Risk Management Initiative

We are pleased to announce that the Malaysian Bar (“MB”) has established the Risk Management Initiative for the benefit of the Members of the Bar.

To implement this initiative, we have appointed Lockton Consulting as MB’s consultant. Lockton Consulting will work together with the Bar Council Risk Management Committee and the Bar Council Professional Indemnity Insurance (“PII”) and Risk Management Department in the planning and rolling out of the Risk Management Initiative.

Our aim is to raise awareness and encourage the legal profession to embrace risk management as part of its daily legal practice. Effective risk management not only improves our practice, it will keep clients happy! It goes without saying that if Members adopt risk management, it will help reduce claims overall, and this may bring stability to the annual PII premiums.

This is why the Risk Management Committee believes it is important to invest in resources and tools to design an effective risk management programme. As part of the Risk Management Initiative, Lockton Consulting will conduct a survey to gain a better understanding of the different aspects of legal practice. We hope to have your support and cooperation in this private and confidential survey.
