In conjunction with Earth Day on 22 April, 2016, WE would like to wish all Kuala Lumpur Bar members a Happy Earth Day.
As part of our commitment for Earth Day and our mother Earth, the KLBC Environmental Committee has initiated a “Recycle for LEGAL AID” initiative. This initiative allows Legal Firms to participate in our continuous “ Recycle for LEGAL AID” campaign by disposing recyclable items through the KLBC’s appointed contractor. The appointed contractor will dispose the following:
1) Shredded documents and non important documents/ newspapers and magazines; AND
2) Any recyclable items deemed suitable.
Under this green initiative, the participating Legal Firm can call our appointed contractor directly to their office where they will collect, weigh and record the amount of refuse.
Upon confirmation of the weight of the refuse, the appointed contractor will determine the price according to the market value and inform the Legal Firm and the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (“KLBC”) respectively OF THE SAID FIRM’S CONTRIBUTION.
The appointed contractor will then channel the payment to the KLBC WHO WILL in turn channel the proceeds to the Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Centre BIANNUALLY .
The objective of this initiative is to CREATE A platform THAT MAKES IT EASIER AND GREENER FOR FIRMS TO DISPOSE OF USED PAPER AND to generate income for the Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Centre AT THE SAME TIME.
WE ARE LOOKING INTO SERVICE PROVIDERS AT THE MOMENT FOR THIS EFFORT.
