Court Attire In Courts

Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,

The Civil Practice & Court Liaison Committee has written to the Kuala Lumpur Courts seeking clarification on the applicable dress code when entering Court premises as we received feedback from a member who was reprimanded by security guards for purportedly breaching the dress code.

The Court has responded to the effect that the security guards are permitted to reprimand any person who is dressed inappropriately but they would still be permitted to enter Court premises in order to settle their matters.

Kindly take note that the dress code guidelines issued by the Chief Registrar dated 1 November 2000 are still applicable. Members are reminded to adhere to the guidelines and wear the appropriate attire when attending the Court Complex.
