Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,
As you may be aware, announcements have been made that there will be road closures in relation to several main roads and certain areas around Kuala Lumpur from 21 to 28 October 2025 in conjunction with the 47th ASEAN Summit from 26 to 28 October 2025.
Kindly take note of the following regarding cases in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor scheduled during this period: –
Civil Cases
Civil cases including continued trials, hearings of interlocutory applications, originating summonses and case management may be conducted online via the Zoom. Members have the liberty to request that the Court proceed with their cases online if they are affected. However, we advise that such applications to be made promptly, no later than 21 October 2025. The approvals for such request is at the discretion of the presiding Judge.
Criminal Cases
As Criminal cases require the physical presence of the accused, prison officers, witnesses, and the prosecution, matters fixed during this period will be rescheduled by way of case management on 21 October 2025. The rescheduling will be at the discretion of the learned Judges and determined based on the year the case was filed and the priority of each case. Members are encouraged to obtain directions from the relevant Courts promptly, no later than 21 October 2025.
