Daniel was brought up in Penang and studied in La Salle School and St Xavier’s Institution from Standard 1 until Upper 6. He came to Kuala Lumpur to pursue his LL.B External (London) degree. Upon completing the first year successfully, he opted to continue his second year at Holborn Law Tutors. He returned to Kuala Lumpur to finish his third and final year before proceeding to complete his CLP course.
Daniel served his pupillage under Mr Matthias Chang, a senior member of the Bar, and then practised at Onn Hussein & Yee, Kuala Lumpur, handling a mixed portfolio of litigation and conveyancing matters.
Many friends will recall Daniel as a happy-go-Iucky type who lived life to the fullest. His friends will remember him as an avid cyclist (in school), biker, and later “superbike”. Alas, it was on such a superbike that Daniel met his fate in March 1993. He was killed in a road traffic accident at Jalan University, Petaling Jaya.
Daniel left many fond memories with many dear friends. His bereavement was tragic, but his passing made an impact on present and past colleagues, and acquaintances alike. Friends noted how he always seemed to savour all that this life had to offer. A friend commented in passing,
If I were to depart this world tomorrow, I would leave a very sad man, the way my life is leading me now! But Daniel, I like to think he left when he was at his happiest.
