Dear Members of the KL Bar and Pupils-In-Chambers,
The Young Lawyers Committee (YLC) promotes and represents the interest and welfare of junior members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar whilst endeavouring to inspire and be relevant among the law students. The work and activities of the YLC are mainly in the following areas:
1. Welfare and Social Justice;
2. Career Development and Progression;
3. Training and Entry to the Bar;
4. Networking Within and Beyond the Bar.
Our past events and initiatives include:
A. Discussions on issues affecting the welfare of lawyers and pupils;
B. Business development and career development forums for young lawyers;
C. Financial planning seminars for young lawyers;
D. Networking events with other young professionals (engineers, accountants, auditors, pharmacists and doctors), senior members of the Bar and members of the Judiciary;
E. Social events such as Charity Night and virtual fitness classes;
F. Upskill training on trial and advocacy skills for virtual courts, legal research, opinion writing and drafting;
G. Panel discussions on current issues and developments in the law and legal practice for both transactional and dispute resolution lawyers;
H. KL Bar – Lincoln’s Inn Alumni Moot Court Competition;
I. Student Ambassador Programme;
J. Fundraising initiatives for, and visits to, charity homes for underprivileged children, elderly care and the disabled.
