Reading Materials for Sungai Buloh Prison Campaign

In 2011, the Criminal Practice Committee started a month-long campaign after being informed that the inmates in the Sungai Buloh Prison had expressed their wishes to have more reading materials. Over 3,000 books and magazines were collected from members of the Bar, individuals and private institutions. These reading materials were handed over to the Sungai Buloh Prison on 21 June 2011 in a simple ceremony.

In 2015, the Criminal Practice Committee revived the campaign and collected over 1,000 books and magazines from members of the Bar, individuals, institutions and government agencies. The handing over ceremony was held on 19 February 2016 together with LexisNexis Malaysia, who held their own Book Drive.

This year, the KLBC Criminal Law Practice Committee will revive the campaign for the third time for a period of 6 months commencing 15 May 2018 to 15 November 2018.

We would like to appeal to members to donate generously. Books and magazines can be dropped off at the KL Bar Secretariat or The Bar Room at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday (addresses below).
