Determination Of Court Orders For Civil Matters

Circular No: 077/2023
Date: 10 July 2023

Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,

The Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee Civil Practice & Court Liaison Committee has received feedback from our members regarding the inconsistent determination of Court Orders for civil matters conducted virtually by Judges and/or Magistrates.

We have reached out to the Court to seek clarification on whether virtual proceedings should be considered as open court matters or chambers matters.

Kindly be informed that the Court has provided the following clarification:-

  • Full Trials (including decisions) conducted by way of Zoom, e-Review and email will be classified as open court matters; and
  • Notices of Applications (including decisions) conducted by way of Zoom, e-Review and email will be classified as chambers matters.

Please take note.
