Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for members volunteering under the Bar Council Legal Aid Centre and Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan (“YBGK”) schemes.
In recognition of your tireless commitment to providing access to justice, the Kuala Lumpur Bar, is sponsoring a Criminal Trial Advocacy Course (“CTAC”) on 15 and 16 February 2025 for up to 30 members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar who are volunteering at the Legal Aid Centre Kuala Lumpur (“LAC KL”) for LAC and YBGK matters, free of charge.
To be eligible for this sponsored training, applicants must fall within one of two categories:
LAC Category:
- Have handled a minimum of two cases in either criminal law, family law, or employment law within the last three years, or
- Have contributed to LAC KL as a speaker, trainer, or through outreach programs.
YBGK Category:
- Must be an active YBGK lawyer.
- Must have attended or signed up for Part 3 of the YBGK training.
- Must commit to adopting two YBGK trial files within three months of completing the CTAC.
We believe this initiative will greatly benefit our members and enhance the legal aid services we provide to the community. We encourage all eligible lawyers to take advantage of this opportunity.
