Dear members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,
It has been brought to the attention of the KLBC Criminal Practice Committee (CPC) that there are members who are registered as Court Assigned Counsel but have not been assigned any or very few matters.
The CPC hopes to take the issue up with the Judiciary and is currently compiling the statistics for the said purpose. To assist the CPC in compiling the statistics, we urge all members who are Court Assigned Counsel to come forward and let us know if you have been assigned any cases in the past three years. If so, kindly let us know the number of cases that have been assigned by the KL Courts to you, if you accepted the brief or not, and if possible, particulars of the assigned cases.
