Circular No: 223/2025
Date: 24 December 2025
Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,
We refer to our Circular No: 111/2025 dated 11 July 2025.
Please be informed that we have received feedback from members that the Wi-Fi connection at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex (“KMKL”) is unstable and unavailable in most locations within KMKL.
The feedback received was conveyed to the Court for remedial steps to be taken.
We have been informed that the Wi-Fi connectivity in KMKL is presently limited and accessible only in certain areas. The Court has explained that the Wi-Fi access points (“APs”) available for lawyers are the existing APs specifically installed for use in the Courtrooms and Judges’ Chambers. These APs cover an environment with a range of approximately 30–50 meters for open areas and 15–20 meters for enclosed areas, operating on 5GHz & 2.4GHz frequencies. The existing APs are not high-density and are not designed to support a high number of simultaneous device connections.
Consequently, we were informed that the Wi-Fi connection depends on:-
(i) the user’s distance from the AP;
(ii) the number of devices connected to the AP; and
(iii) whether the area is open or enclosed.
In view of the Court’s response, the KLBC will continue to engage with the Court and work towards a long-term plan to upgrade the existing Wi-Fi network to provide better coverage throughout KMKL for the benefit of members. In order to facilitate these efforts, the KLBC will continue to engage with the Ministry of Law, Ministry of Communications and Ministry of Digital to request that a budget be allocated to the KMKL as well as Palace of Justice for this purpose.
Click here to view the AP locations and the Wi-Fi coverage map for the 5GHz & 2.4GHz frequencies.
In the meantime, members who require Wi-Fi connectivity may visit the Bar Room at Level 5, Left Wing to carry out online hearings and/or other tasks.
