Circular No: 123/2025
Date: 22 July 2025
Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,
We refer to our Circular No: 028/2025 dated 26 February 2025.
We are pleased to inform Members that we have recently received notification that the Child Care Centre at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex (“KMKL”), known as Taska Qistina (“Taska Qistina“), is currently open for enrolment for lawyers’ children. The enrolment is available both on a daily basis or on a monthly basis.
During the meeting with the Director of the Kuala Lumpur Courts on 4 June 2025, we were informed that as a start, Taska Qistina will only be accepting enrolment for lawyers’ children, specifically for infants aged 2 months to 2 years, and toddlers aged 2 years to 4 years.
Taska Qistina will not be accepting children of the public to be enrolled at this stage due to several concerns, among others, that Taska Qistina being unable to take responsibility for children whose parents may be detained or arrested during the court proceedings that are taking place in the Court, which they may be involved in. Nevertheless, we will continue working with KMKL to try and come up with an alternative solution for children of the public and/or to widen the enrolment for Taska Qistina at a later stage.
For lawyers who wish to enrol their children at Taska Qistina, the relevant details are as follows:
(i) Child care on a daily basis (“Daily care”) is available from 7:30am to 6:00pm daily. In order to utilise this, ideally, members are required to submit the registration form (Appendix A) at least three (3) days prior to the intended enrolment date. This is to ensure that sufficient carers are assigned to the Taska Qistina on the relevant date. However, should an emergency arise, Taska Qistina will still accept children of members on the day, on the condition that there are sufficient carers available.
(ii) The applicable rates for Daily care are RM80 for infants (2 months to 2 years of age) and RM60 for toddlers (aged 2 years to 4 years), respectively. Taska Qistina is unable to offer hourly rates as the carers are only available to be engaged on a daily basis.
(iii) Child care on a monthly basis (“Monthly care”) is available for daily care from 7:30am to 6:00pm on a monthly basis.
(iv) The applicable rates for Monthly care are RM800 for infants (2 months to 2 years of age); RM700 for toddlers (2 years to 3 years of age) and RM650 for toddlers (3 years to 4 years of age).
(v) Overtime charges will apply after 6:00pm on an hourly basis, which is to be further advised by Taska Qistina.
