In view of the increasing numbers of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia, there is a heightened risk to our members who volunteer to provide representation through the KL Legal Aid Center in criminal courts for remand and other related proceedings.
The Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee recently approved a Finance Committee proposal to subsidise the cost of private Covid-19 Testing (“Subsidy“) for KL Legal Aid Center volunteers who have enlisted themselves for daily duties either for Court duty or Remand cases (“Enlisted Volunteers“).
The Subsidy for testing is aimed at enabling Enlisted Volunteers who are regularly exposed to better afford frequent Covid-19 screening. Enlisted Volunteers may submit up to two claims per month for purposes of receiving this subsidy.
The Subsidy is to be administered/disbursed at the maximum rate of RM50.00 per Covid-19 Test undertaken by the Enlisted Volunteer. The Subsidy will be applicable for those who have volunteered through the KL Legal Aid Center from July 2021 onwards.
Enlisted Volunteers are encouraged to submit their applications for the Subsidy by uploading their purchase receipt here. Please email covid19subsidy@klbar.org.my for any queries.
