Dear Members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar,
We understand that members have been having difficulty interviewing suspects in the Dang Wangi Lockup.
Please be informed that we have raised this issue with the IPD Dang Wangi and we have recently received feedback from the Officer In-Charge of Police District (“OCPD”) Tuan Mohd. Fahmi Visuvanathan Abdullah pertaining to the above matter.
Kindly take note that the Dang Wangi Lockup have implemented the following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for remand cases which are as follows:
- Remand Form must be submitted to Lock up by 9:00am.
- Interviews of the OYDS are from 9:00am to 10:30am.
- Presence of Magistrate for the Remand Process starts from 10:30am until the process ends.
In the event, Members still experience difficulty or observe that the above SOP is not being complied with, kindly write in to us at noratikah@klbar.org.my with the particulars.
