Dear Members of the KL Bar,
In August this year, the Publications Committee of the Kuala Lumpur Bar brought back RELEVAN after a hiatus of 10 years.
RELEVAN is the Kuala Lumpur Bar’s exclusive eNewsletter that highlights news relevant to members of the Bar, whilst also giving members a platform to voice their views on issues of their interest.
RELEVAN reaches out to a wide audience, beyond the 8000 and more lawyers in Kuala Lumpur. As seen with the first issue, it was forwarded organically to members of other State Bars. RELEVAN remains accessible at all times to even members of the public as it is available on the Kuala Lumpur Bar Blog.
Therefore, RELEVAN represents an excellent medium for members to showcase their writing talent, gain exposure, discuss critical issues of law, and even advocate a certain point of view.
In preparation of the second issue of RELEVAN scheduled for release in November, and future issues to follow, the Publications Committee is now calling for contributions from members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar. Should you be interested, here are the details:
Suggested topics: Legal analysis or opinion on important developments in law, legal opinion on a matter of public interest, opinion regarding the legal profession, and other related topics.
Language: Bahasa Malaysia / English
Wordcount: 500 – 1000 words
Deadline: 14 November 2019
Fact Checking and Sources: The onus is on the author of every article to fact-check the information contained in the articles. Sources (if any) must be set out in as much detail as possible.
Copyright: Copyright of articles written for and/or published by the KLBC Publications Committee shall belong to the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (“KLBC”). In the event that the author of the article wishes to publish it on other platforms, this can only be done one (1) week after the initial publication on RELEVAN, with a notice that the article was previously published on RELEVAN.

Discretion of the Publications Committee: The Publications Committee shall retain the discretion to determine whether any article submitted should be published, including where and when the article should be published. Additionally, the Publications Committee shall retain the discretion to edit and/or restructure any article submitted to it in the best way it sees fit.
