NOTICE
29TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
KUALA LUMPUR BAR
[Pursuant to Section 70(1) of the Legal Profession Act 1976
as amended by the Legal Profession (Amendment) Act 2006]
NOTICE is hereby given that the 29TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (“AGM”) of the KUALA LUMPUR BAR will be held on THURSDAY, 25 FEBRUARY 2021 at 2:00PM at the AUDITORIUM, LEVEL 3, WISMA MCA, 163 JALAN AMPANG, KUALA LUMPUR.
**In light of the Covid-19 pandemic and the current Movement Control Order (“MCO”) possible extensions, the AGM may be held virtually via an online platform, and members will be advised in due course.
Pursuant to Section 70(2A) of the Legal Profession (Amendment) Act 2006, the quorum shall be five per cent of the total number of members of the State Bar. As at 25 January 2021 there are 8,956 members in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and therefore the quorum is 448 members.
Kindly take note that pursuant to section 70(2B) of the Legal Profession (Amendment) Act 2006, the quorum has to be present within one hour from the time appointed for holding the meeting i.e. by 3:00pm. If the quorum is not present by 3:00pm, the AGM shall be adjourned to 3:05pm on the same day and at the same venue and if the quorum is not present within one hour from the time appointed for holding the adjourned meeting, the members present shall constitute the quorum.
Members are urged to make every effort to attend the AGM so that issues affecting members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar may be effectively discussed by as many members as possible.

**Pursuant to Section 70(1) of the Legal Profession Act 1976, the AGM of a State Bar must be held within the month of February. In view of the Emergency declared pursuant to Article 150(1) of the Federal Constitution and the Prevention Of Infectious Diseases (Movement Control) Regulations 2021, the Secretary of the State Bar Committee may consider for the AGM to be held virtually should the MCO be extended beyond 25 February 2021. Should any member have any objections to the AGM being conducted remotely, please write in to the Committee via email (klbc@klbar.org.my) by 2nd February 2021.

• The Right Honourable Chief Justice and the Acting President of the Industrial Court have very kindly agreed to allow adjournment of cases for members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar to attend the above AGM. The Right Honourable Chief Justice has directed that all applications for adjournment are to be made to the respective Court concerned.
